When we arrived home from our trip to Jackson, we discovered that our Russian Tortoise, Fred was missing. This was really really peculiar because its not really possible that the little guy just wandered off. He had an outdoor pen that there is no way he could have escaped on his own. So, we decided he either had a little “help” from a neighbor kid who wandered into our yard while we were gone, OR somehow a wild animal got in there and ate him. The worst part is that we will never really know what happened. Kenni was really sad and she made “Missing” signs for him to hang up around the neighborhood, but I tried to gently remind her that there wasn’t much chance of a 5 inch turtle turning up. Anyway- as I write this it has been a few months and no sign of the little guy. Sometimes I look out in the yard and wonder if he is somewhere out there? Sort of like Fievel Goes West. Anyway- he was a great Turtle while he lasted. An expensive little bugger too, so I hope we don’t have to buy a replacement. Perhaps I could talk them into a hampster instead???
